Theresa May: UK is in grip of copycat terror attacks

Police officers on duty stand next to floral tributes on Southwark Street in London, Sunday, June 4, 2017, near the scene of Saturday's attack.

The mother of stab victim Daniel O'Neill (23) told reporters outside King's College Hospital: "He just stepped outside the bar for a second and a man ran up to him and said, "This is for my family".

So far, 7 people have been reported dead and 48 injured, in the attacks on a part of London that catered to everyone - a vibrant mix of cheap eats, high-end restaurants, food stalls and local pubs - a place that's as likely to draw in tourists as it is local residents.

In a speech on Sunday evening, Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn blamed Prime Minister Theresa May for denying police and security services the resources they needed to protect Britons.

The country's major political parties temporarily suspended campaigning with only days to go before Thursday's general election.

"The rhetoric that has been coming from Daesh and other organisations has been to encourage people to take action into their own hands, to use low-tech methods, and undoubtedly when people see something which appears from their perverted point of view to be successful some people will be inspired by that, so that is most certainly a possibility".

Andrew Morrison survived being stabbed in the neck during the deadly attack on Saturday, his last night in the British capital before he was due to fly back to Australia.

She said police know the identity of the three attackers but will not release them yet because of the ongoing investigation. "But it is time to say, 'Enough is enough, '" she declared.

"We are committed to working in partnership with the government and NGOs to tackle these challenging and complex problems, and share the government's commitment to ensuring terrorists do not have a voice online", the statement, attributed to a United Kingdom -based Google spokesperson, said.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said he was "heartbroken" that a Canadian was among those killed.

He said the officers fired 50 rounds at the men, striking and wounding a member of the public in the process.

Islamic State's statement from its Aamaq news agency claimed the group's "fighters" were responsible, the SITE Intelligence Group said Sunday.

It was the third attack in Britain this year that Islamic State has claimed - including the similar attack on Westminister Bridge in March and the Manchester concert bombing two weeks ago - and one of several involving vehicles in Europe, including last year's Bastille Day rampage in the French city of Nice. Investigators were working to determine whether others assisted them, Rowley said.

Dr Walsh also said police everywhere will be hyper vigilant and will now stop at nothing to "stop the carnage" including taking down a potential threat.

Google also said it employed "thousands of people" and spent "hundreds of millions of pounds to fight abuse on our platforms".

The first victim of the weekend's attack to be identified was named as "beautiful, loving" bride-to-be Chrissy Archibald, from Canada.

NY [U.S.], June 5: Metropolitan police is leaving no stone unturned in finding the details of the three terrorists that rampaged through central London killing seven and injuring 48 people.

An Australian man who was injured told how he "dodged, ducked and weaved" as he was attacked by a knife-wielding terrorist.
