Tiger's auto was damaged before DUI arrest: cops

Legendary pro golfer Tiger Woods was arrested for driving under the influence near his home in Jupiter, Florida, at 3 a.m. on Monday morning.

Woods told police he had taken medications including Soloxex, Vicodin, Torix and Vioxx.

His police report, obtained and published by several media outlets, said Woods was "co-operative" and "confused" when found by police, with "extremely slow and slurred speech". The document CNN cited also said that Woods told police he "takes several prescriptions".

At one point, police said he appeared to be on the verge of falling over and one officer rushed over to catch him.

The athlete, now sidelined from competition after his fourth back surgery in April, said on Monday that an unexpected reaction to legal drugs led to his arrest on the DUI charge. He was also unaware of where he was, and when asked to recite the alphabet backwards, he thought he was instructed to recite the national anthem backwards.

According to police reports, Woods blew a 0.0 on a breathalyzer, showing he had no alcohol in his system, but had to be woken up in his vehicle early Monday morning by the police.

"I didn't realize the mix of medications had affected me so strongly", Woods said later in a statement Monday night.

I will do everything in my power to ensure this never happens again.

Nike announced Tuesday it would continue endorsing Tiger Woods following the golfer's DUI arrest over Memorial Day weekend.

Ananya Vinay, Indian-origin student, wins Scripps National Spelling Bee 2017
The bee shook things up in its 90th incarnation, adding a written, 24-question test that all finalists had to take Thursday night. The schoolgirl has said she will split the $40,000 cash prize with her seven-year-old brother and use it for her college fund.

But the 73-time PGA Tour victor offered his sympathies to the under-siege Woods.

"I feel bad for Tiger", Jack Nicklaus said.

"Thankful for great friends and fun adventures but keeping my eyes on the horizon", the Olympic skier said to her 1 million followers.

"I think that he's struggling".

Woods remains a favourite among players young and old.

As recently as last week, Woods wrote in a blog on his website that "I want to say unequivocally, I want to play professional golf again", despite admitting his fourth back operation meant he would be unable to "twist" for another three months.

In a statement, Woods confirmed that "alcohol was not involved" after original reports claimed the DUI he was arrested for included alcohol.

A police mugshot of Woods looking bleary-eyed and unshaven rapidly went viral after its release on Monday, underscoring the fall from grace of the superstar athlete once renowned as a clean-living, corporate pitchman.
