Amid the ongoing furore over another scam involving class 12 toppers of the examination conducted by the state education board, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today said that strict action will be taken against teachers of schools where no student managed to pass the exam.

The CM further told reporters that there was already a law in Bihar that prohibits cow slaughter (barring the slaughter of diseased cows, bulls or calves or those aged 15 years or more). The Bihar Board Class 12th examination results were declared on May 30 and Ganesh Kumar topped the intermediate examination in Arts segment.

The CM said the department was taking a holistic view of the issues coming to the fore after this year's examination and the officials were preparing an "action plan" to improve the quality of teaching.

"Not the outsiders, but people of Bihar play main role in ruining the image of the state", Nitish said at a press conference in Patna. "After the probe, officials from the Block Education Officer (BEO) to District Education Officer (DEO), school teachers and others will be punished for not fulfilling their duty", he said.

"In fact, when a photograph of some persons facilitating candidates in using unfair means in examination conducted by BSEB in 2015 went viral, I had directed authorities to tighten the system and ensure fair examination", Chief Minister said adding that some loop holes remained there and taking its advantage in connivance with authorities, some elements succeeded in engineering toppers scam a year ago.

BSEB chairman Anand Kishore on Friday said Ganesh Kumar is 42-years-old and a father of two.

"As soon as irregularity regarding the arts topper (Ganesh Kumar) surfaced, I directed officials not to waste time in ordering probe and to lodge an FIR and arrest the wrongdoers involved in the exam racket", he said.

Ganesh Kumar passed Class 10 in 1990 from CRSR High School in Giridih, Jharkhand. He changed his name from Ganesh Ram to Ganesh Kumar and gave his date of birth as 02-06-1993.
