Apple expected to unveil smart speaker at developers' conference

Ladies and gents, Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference kicks off today in San Jose on Monday. And it would mark an effort by Apple to catch up with Amazon (AMZN) and Google (GOOG). Calling it the Apple home speaker, the tipsters added that its availability will be delayed until late-2017.

That leaves Apple. Although it was the first smartphone maker to come out with a digital assistant when Siri debuted in 2011, it hasn't had a stand-alone assistant.

Huge amounts of confidential information about Apple's future products have been leaked by three employees of Foxconn, a Chinese company that manufactures Apple products, according to a Tech Times report. For instance, Apple initially resisted enlarging the size of iPhone's screen despite strong sales for larger-display phones made by Samsung and other rivals. To watch, you'll need an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with Safari on iOS 7.0 or later; a Mac with Safari 6.0.5 or later on OS X v10.8.5 or later; or a PC with Microsoft Edge on Windows 10. We also believe it'll feature a Mac Pro-type body but with a mesh-like outer layer.

Just after the new "Files" application was discovered, Steven also found references to a new "Drag and Drop" feature, nearly confirming that some sort of Drag and Drop functionality will be coming to the iPad with iOS 11.

Apple Pay is also expected to receive an update - one that would allow peer-to-peer mobile payments and new augmented reality features. It is also available on Apple TV, iPods are supported as well. Apple is expected to update the iPad Pro and MacBook Pro lines.
