Donald Trump criticises mayor Sadiq Khan again over London terror attacks

We're going to hold fast and we're going to keep calm and carry on.' Maybe we have to keep calm and actually do something.

Trump's extraordinary attacks on the popular mayor of a grieving city have disgusted many Londoners, reigniting opposition to a state visit by the American president to the United Kingdom planned for later this year.

The U.K. has recently been subjected to a string of senseless terror attacks, culminating in the attack in London this past weekend that left seven dead, including a Canadian.

"As a proud and patriotic British Muslim I say this you do not commit these disgusting acts in my name".

Trump was panned widely for his misplaced comment. His brash attitude had already set European teeth on edge after his foreign trip last month.

May made the invitation to Trump just seven days after he took office, a decision that prompted accusations that Britain, its global influence set to be weakened by Brexit, was kowtowing to the new United States leader.

Khan also stopped by Good Morning Britain, where the always-contrary Piers Morgan first (at the beginning of the below clip) tried to argue that Trump might have a point about how to stop terror, but Khan didn't buy into the argument because of what he calls Trump's "ignorant" history of Islamophobic remarks and policies.

At the time, there was no way to know whether the tweet was accurate or not and British authorities were warning about unsubstantiated reports.

"We need to be smart, vigilant and tough".

May and Corbyn shared similar levels of trust and distrust, with 42 percent saying they trust May and 41 percent trusting Corbyn, while 46 percent said they don't trust the prime minister and 47 percent said the same about the Labour leader.

It's unclear whether the president has conveyed his requests to the Justice Department, which he oversees, in a forum other than Twitter. Trump tweeted Saturday after the attack.

A night's sleep didn't ease Trump's desire to turn the political screw.

"We've got to recognise some people want to divide our communities".

Hillary Clinton criticized President Donald Trump's handling of recent terror attacks in London Monday, saying that "we are not living in normal times".

Sen. Ben Cardin said Monday that President Trump's response to London Mayor Sadiq Khan was "bizarre".

"The mayor is busy working with the police, emergency services, and the government to coordinate the response to this horrific and cowardly terrorist attack and provide leadership and reassurance to Londoners and visitors to our city", the spokesman said Sunday.

Washington's acting ambassador to London meanwhile appeared to contradict his boss.

The three suspects were shot dead by police officers within minutes after they drove a van into pedestrians on the bridge and then stormed pubs and restaurants, stabbing anyone in their path.
