Accused leaker Reality Winner pleads not guilty, denied bail

A federal grand jury in the American state of Georgia has indicted a woman accused of leaking classified documents to a news organisation.

The charge, willful retention and transmission of national defense information, could bring victor up to 10 years in prison. Prosecutor Jennifer Solari says investigators seized a notebook from Winner's house in Augusta, Georgia, and in it, victor made references about traveling to the Middle East.

The charge carries a potential penalty of up to 10 years in prison and a fine up to $250,000.

The parents of a young woman charged with leaking USA government secrets to a reporter say she poses no flight risk if she's released from pre-trial confinement.

The defense contractor accused of leaking a classified document to a media outlet will remain in jail.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Jennifer Solari stressed Thursday in a court in Augusta, Ga., that 25-year-old Reality Leigh Winner referred to "documents" in the plural, according to NBC News.

Winner's mother, Billie Winner-Davis, told The Associated Press in an interview Wednesday she fears prosecutors will try to make an example of her daughters to show that they are not "going to tolerate leakers".

"I didn't know what company she worked for", Winner-Davis said.

In the legal case, authorities say victor admitted to leaking the classified report once government officials traced her as the source.

FDA Calls On Drugmaker To Pull A Powerful Opioid Off The Market
The United States in in the midst of an opioid overdose epidemic, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. But many users dissolved and injected the drug, which has led to an outbreak of HIV and hepatitis C , according to the FDA.

According to a probable-cause affidavit from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Winner admitted to intentionally printing a copy of the intelligence report in her office and mailing it to the news outlet. Solari said investigators have learned victor inserted a portable hard drive in a top-secret Air Force computer before she left the military past year.

Winner posted under a pseudonym, Sara Winners, but didn't seem concerned with concealing her identity, using a photo of herself as a profile picture and posting a selfie in February. The NSA document provided technical details on what it said were Russian attempts to hack election officials and a voting machine firm before the presidential election in November. Her friend Ann Demasi, who has known victor for six years, testified she trusts victor 100 percent and has never known her to lose control or act violently.

Prosecutors also said while victor was serving in the Air Force she put a removable thumb drive into a top-secret computer. During that time, he said, victor provided real-time translation to Americans conducting field missions.

On social media, victor mostly shared glimpses into her life far removed from politics — such as watching Dr.

A White House spokeswoman said at a press briefing ahead of Winner's detention hearing that Trump believes anyone found guilty of unlawfully disclosing government secrets should be punished to the fullest extent of the law.

Winner's attorney says she should be released and prosecutors are exaggerating the threat she poses.

Investigators said in court records that they wanted to search her property for a variety of computer information as well as possible contacts with media outlets as well as any possible contacts with "foreign governments, foreign powers, or agents of foreign powers".

Winner, the prosecutor said, had notes about software to enter the "dark" web anonymously, to change SIM card on cell phone to use anonymously, and setting up a single-use, burner email account.

O'Donnell confirmed the contribution came from her in a series of tweets, calling victor a "brave young patriot".
