Trump is considering firing special counsel Robert Mueller, friend says

Trump was considering hiring Mueller to replace fired FBI Director James Comey.

Sources have told CNN that multiple advisers have counseled Trump against firing Mueller.

House Speaker Paul Ryan, however, did say he would be "surprised" if Trump fired Mueller.

In March, Ruddy opened another possible portal into Trump's thinking after the president accused former President Obama of wiretapping Trump Tower.

"It's a mistake to pretend that this is going to be some neutral investigation", Gingrich said. If he refused to do it, Trump could fire him until he found someone at the Department of Justice that would agree to fire the special prosecutor.

The latest? Trump is reportedly considering whether to fire recently appointed special counsel Robert Mueller - the former director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) who was tasked last month with investigating the Russian Federation matter.

The ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee, Democrat Adam Schiff, responded forcefully by saying Mueller would be brought back "immediately". Under the regulation, Special Counsel Mueller may be fired only for good cause, and I am required to put that cause in writing.

The two of them proceeded to debate the past comments about the investigation from Former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, as well as James Comey's leaking of his own memos to the media.

Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, asked Rosenstein at a budget hearing Tuesday what he would do if Trump ordered him to fire Mueller, who is investigating Russian interference in the US elections and possible Russian ties to Trump's campaign.

The new talk about dismissing Mueller appeared to be coming from Trump allies - including some close to White House strategist Steve Bannon - who are increasingly frustrated with the prospect of a long and winding probe. "(Attorney General) Jeff Sessions is recused here, so it would be up to (Deputy Attorney General) Rod Rosenstein, who was the person who just appointed Bob Mueller a couple of weeks ago".

Christopher Ruddy, chief executive of the conservative news website Newsmax, made his remarks during an interview on PBS Newshour. Mueller was appointed to investigate whether Trump or his associates had links to Russian hackers, and Trump lacks the direct authority to dismiss him. Gingrich later clarified that the "bad people" he was referring to are the "people who are going to be after" the president. I think he's weighing that option, ' he said. But Sekulow added that he "can't imagine the issue is going to arise". United States, the Supreme Court said that the President has the exclusive power to remove executive branch officials - and of course, the Justice Department is part of the executive branch.

Kayla Tausche of spotted Ruddy leaving the White House Monday morning before making the news.

Mr Trump is yet to comment publicly on the matter and White House spokesman Sean Spicer has told Washington media Mr Mueller's sacking is unlikely.

Spicer had said that Ruddy was at the White House Monday to meet with White House aides, but did not speak with the president.

Another distraction for Trump came from the attorneys general of Maryland and the District of Columbia, who filed a lawsuit against him.
