According to marketing data firm Sensor Tower, the bogus app delivers more or less US$80,000 each month in revenue.

To put an end to the app review prompts Apple have designed new rules regarding app review prompts and how frequently the developers are permitted to request them. "Apps may use in-app purchase currencies to enable customers to "tip" digital content providers in the app. Apps may not include buttons, external links, or other calls to action that direct customer to purchasing mechanisms other than IAP".

- The App Store has been refreshed with a new design.

Last month, Apple turned its attentions toward in-app tips, as the feature sidestepped the 30 percent tax that Apple receives from in-app purchases. Instead, there'll be two key restrictions that should reduce headaches for everyone: First, apps will be required to use a new Apple-made review prompt, which allows users to leave a rating without exiting an app.

Custom, in-app prompts used by developers require the user to move over to the App Store to leave a review, a solution that may yield feedback but also pulls the user out of the app itself in order to do so. Alas, Apple's beloved App Store is itself home to a selection of scamware apps that essentially provide zero utility and are expressly created to con unsuspecting users out of their hard-earned money. The company's tablet line isn't quite a computer yet, but iOS 11 marks the first time you might actually consider picking up an iPad over a laptop and that's incredibly significant.

Lin took a look at some high earning iOS apps and discovered a few suspect apps, many of them with exorbitant subscriptions to which users were seemingly subscribing.

In-app tips have generated controversy for Apple, particularly in dealing with app developers from China.

To summarize, as the App Store makes the shift to strongly controlled curated content it will become more important than ever to get featured but it might become even more hard to get featured which may impact small/medium developers. It's wonderful to see that Apple is taking huge strides in the world of AR while the platform has been off to a shaky start everywhere else.

Apple has modified its App Store policies and will now allow tipping for content publishers through in-app purchases, reports TechCrunch.

For consumers, Lin suggests reviewing your subscriptions.
