Donald Trump: Happy to Speak 'Under Oath' to Refute James Comey

"Yesterday showed no collusion, no obstruction". He further denied ever asking Comey for his "loyalty", contradicting Comey's detailed allegations in his sworn testimony.

Trump has been coy about whether any recordings exist of his private conversations with Comey, who was dismissed by the president in May. Asked if he would make that denial under oath, he said: "100 percent".

Meanwhile, the Senate investigation into collusion with Russian Federation or obstruction of justice is extending to a Trump Cabinet member.

Former president Barack Obama's "prettiest" Desi former California attorney general Kamala Harris chipped in wondering if it wasn't like "a robber held a gun to somebody's head and said I hope you will give me your wallet". "I'm not hinting anything".

Bharara says he found it "very weird and peculiar" to be drawn into private conversations with the president.

Reed says "there's a real question of the propriety" of Sessions' involvement in Comey's dismissal, since Sessions had recused himself from the federal probe into contacts between Russian Federation and the Trump campaign. "I'm not saying it's an acceptable excuse".

The former Alabama senator was an early supporter of Donald Trump, and Sessions' contacts during the campaign with Russia's ambassador to the United States have raised questions.

It wasn't a bad day either for the tweeter-in-chief as Comey confirmed that Trump wasn't under the Federal Bureau of Investigation scanner and "in theory" the President could commit no crime in doing what he was accused of. "Despite so many false statements and lies, total and complete vindication", Trump wrote, suggesting that Comey had committed perjury. The memos were notes that Comey typed up after his meetings with the president and did not contain classified information. ".and WOW, Comey is a leaker!"

Trump didn't stop there, however. "No plausible case. We must distinguish crimes from" political "sins".

Referencing Trump's own statements, in an interview with NBC's Lester Holt and in accounts of his May meeting with Russian diplomats, Comey replied: "I take the President at his word that I was sacked because of the Russian investigation-something about the way I was conducting it, the president felt, created pressure on him that he wanted relieved". Instead, Trump let his lawyer do the talking for him. But the self-imposed silence didn't last. It also revealed the deep distrust that had soured their relationship before Comey's firing last month.

A person close to Mr Trump's legal team has said a complaint would be filed with the Justice Department. Comey's testimony underscored the discord that had soured their relationship. He painted Trump as a chief executive dismissive of the FBI's independence and made clear that he interpreted Trump's request to end an investigation into Flynn, his former national security adviser, as an order coming from the president.

After the election but before the inauguration, Trump asked Bharara to stay on as US attorney in Manhattan when they met at Trump Tower.

But Republicans chose to ignore those things and focus on the aspects of Comey's testimony on Thursday that were favorable to Trump.

Shortly after he fired Comey in May, Trump tweeted "James Comey better hope that there are no "tapes" of our conversations before he starts leaking to the press!" She called Comey an "honorable individual".

"I think he abused power", said House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif.

When asked if he would testify under oath on the situation, Trump agreed.
