Donald Trump Jr. appears to confirm key part of Comey's testimony

Whether or not former FBI Director James Comey's testimony in front of the Senate Intelligence Committee on Thursday provided enough evidence for an obstruction of justice case against President Donald Trump (according to a former Justice Department official who helped prosecute the Watergate scandal, it did), there should no longer be any doubt among reasonable adults about the president's unscrupulous character.

The president, in Sunday morning tweets as the TV talk shows began, also criticized familiar targets including the mainstream news media and Democrats. "I mean, I will tell you, I didn't say that", Trump responded.

"Despite so many false statements and lies, total and complete vindication... and WOW, Comey is a leaker", Trump tweeted.

Republican Senator Jim Risch of Idaho argued during Comey's testimony that there is no legal basis to charge Trump for the comments Comey accused him of making. The president specifically denied asking Comey for his "loyalty" early in Trump's term.

He said he didn't return a third call Trump placed after taking office.

His jurisdiction included Trump Tower. "There is a cloud over the presidency, the president said, and that's rightly so", Schumer said.

"It appeared to be that he was trying to cultivate some kind of relationship", Bharara said. He called out the president for his repeated falsehoods and said that the Trump administration chose to "defame" him in claiming that the Federal Bureau of Investigation "was in disarray" and that the "workforce had lost confidence in its leader", which Comey called "lies, plain and simple".

Jay Sekulow called such a leak "unprecedented".

The counsel would not say whether Trump has tapes of his Oval Office conversations with Comey.

Trump first hinted in May about the existence of "tapes" between himself and Comey on Twitter. "That's a decision that the president will make in consultation with his chief personal lawyer Marc Kasowitz, and that the president said he'll address it next week".

"That's a very hard standard to meet", Turley said.

The investigators requested Comey and the White House to provide the records by June 23.

She said the administration should hand any tapes over to her committee and former FBI Director Robert Mueller, special counsel for the investigation into ties between Russian Federation and Trump's campaign.

Susan Collins (R-Maine) if he had shared with anybody the memos he had written to document his conversations with Trump about the president's alleged request for Comey to stop investigating Michael Flynn's ties to Russian Federation.

The information was leaked to a reporter of "The New York Times" through a professor from the Columbia Law School.

After his dismissal, Comey leaked shocking details of a series of meetings with Trump, in which the president allegedly asked for Comey's "loyalty" and suggested that he shelve an FBI investigation into Trump's national security adviser.

"Special Counsel [Mueller] has been in contact with the committee to discuss access", Richman told Fox News. During his campaign, Trump often said it was time to "drain the swamp" in Washington of corrupt and self-dealing insiders.
