Donald Trump Jr. Completely Contradicts His Dad's Comey Claim

President Trump's claims contradicting former FBI Director James Comey's testimony about their conversations faced fresh scrutiny Sunday, with lawmakers on both sides of the aisle putting pressure on the commander in chief to offer proof of his charges.

Questions over whether such tapes exist have been swirling ever since Trump tweeted on May 12, "James Comey better hope that there are no "tapes" of our conversations before he starts leaking to the press!"

"I'll tell you about that maybe sometime in the very near future", Trump told reporters, adding that "you're going to be very disappointed when you hear the answer".

While playing defense, Trump is also trying to go on the offensive against Comey, particularly on the revelation that Comey leaked a memo about the meeting about Flynn to a Columbia Law School professor who then handed it to The New York Times. And he expanded other remarks, noting that one reason he took copious notes from a meeting with Trump was that he thought Trump might lie about the conversation.

One of the things Comey told the Senate committee was that he believes he was sacked last month in an effort to "relieve" pressure on Trump from the Justice Department investigation. "And there'd be nothing wrong if I did say it".

The President had said Comey's testimony vindicates his assertion that Trump himself was not personally under the investigation.

President Donald Trump says he would "100 percent" be willing to testify under oath that former FBI Director James Comey's statements about him are untrue.

Richman already has been in touch with the Senate Intelligence Committee, which is seeking Comey's memos as part of its own probe of Russian meddling in the 2016 campaign and connections to the Trump campaign.

Trump had been uncharacteristically quiet on Thursday, refraining from live-tweeting Comey's testimony and relying on his personal attorney to respond afterward.

Republican senator Susan Collins said she would support a subpoena to the White House to release any alleged tapes, as Donald Trump launched new attacks on the fired Federal Bureau of Investigation boss. It's so hard to know what to believe from this White House, but this clip indicates, at the very least, that there are serious communication problems within the upper strata of the Trump administration, and even within the First Family.

Mr Comey interpreted Mr Trump's "hope" as a direction but did not relay it to the agency, in the fear of it having a "chilling effect" on their work.

"In light of reports regarding Mr. Comey's recent testimony before the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, it is important that I have an opportunity to address these matters in the appropriate forum", Sessions said in his letter dated Saturday.
