The announcement comes the day after Donald trump chose to take the United States out of the Paris agreement.

EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt is dodging the question of whether the president believes climate change is real and a threat to the U.S. The interview will be broadcast on CNN's "State of the Union" on Sunday.

"The withdrawal of the United States of America from the Paris accord indicates the irresponsibility of this country's government vis-à-vis the worldwide community", Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi said on Saturday.

"The US withdrawal from Paris may slow down global progress on climate change, but will not reverse it, leaving the US in catch-up mode regarding the clean energy transition", said Peter Kiernan of the Economist Intelligence Unit.

It has been hard to pin down whether Trump does or does not believe in climate change. But since becoming president, he has not offered an opinion. "He knows that the USA has to be responsible with it, and that's what we're going to do".

He claimed "the rest of the world applauded" Trump's decision, ignoring the overwhelming global condemnation of the American exit.

The French video goes on to refute the main arguments in the United States video using new slides with text edits.

"The US President's statement on Paris agreement has come as a shock for us and the worldwide community".

"Just because the USA got out of a club doesn't mean we aren't going to care about the environment", Ms Haley told CNN, adding that the terms of the Paris agreement, reached in 2015, were "too onerous".

The U.S. mayors are joined by dozens of worldwide mayors who have made their own commitments to the climate agreement meant to limit the rise of global average temperatures to 2.0 degrees Celsius.

The Trump administration has been aggressive in rolling back environmental protections, especially those instituted during the Obama administration.

"This agreement is less about the climate and more about other countries gaining a financial advantage over the United States", he said.

After Trump withdrew from the Paris Agreement, his Counselor Kellyanne Conway said on Good Morning America that he "made very clear yesterday what he doesn't believe".

It appears that Trump's decision this week has triggered a process that will continue into 2020, likely ensuring that climate change will be a significant issue during the next presidential election. "We disagree - so we've changed it. #MakeThePlanetGreatAgain".

In the Paris agreement, each country determines its own contribution it should make in order to mitigate global warming.
