Kevin Durant's move to Golden State rewarded with MVP

OAKLAND, Calif. - In the same tunnel where they celebrated a championship one year ago, Kyrie Irving waited for LeBron James to come off the court and the two Cleveland Cavaliers stars embraced.

It's a positively absurd thing to do, not only because of what he did this postseason, but for what he's already accomplished, especially last season. The Warriors won 129-120 to win the National Basketball Association championship.

Kevin Durant scored 39 points and was named the finals MVP, a no brainer.

LeBron James and Kyrie Irving tried their best to extend the series.

The Warriors returned to their most Warrior-like ways in the second quarter, outscoring Cleveland 38-23, with 21 of the points coming from Curry and Durant. No and no. What he did this postseason was downright incredible.

It's hard to imagine the Cavaliers going out and attracting a big-name free agent for cheap, so they might be forced to trade for one.

"I said 'if there's a time to be rebuilding, this is the time to do it.' The Warriors don't look like they're going anywhere for a while". "I just try to put in the work, in the film room, in my mind, my body every single day to prepare myself for whatever obstacle that this ball club entails".

"I just wanted to come in there and just be me". The next time down, after a defensive stop, the Warriors went right back to the well and the Cavaliers, fearing the same result, tossed an extra help defender Durant's way. Aron Baynes played in the 2014 NBA Finals with the San Antonio Spurs against a LeBron James led Miami Heat. "I'm not happy at all", said James, the first player in NBA Finals history to average a triple-double.

Their superior depth proved vital, with Warriors bench players contributing 35 points - including 20 from Andre Iguodala - to just seven for the Cavs' back-ups.

Those who know me know that when it comes to sports and social media, I'm known to wear my heart on my Facebook feed.

But in the featured matchup of the NBA Finals, Kevin Durant had his rival in the only area he cared about: wins. Then he had game-highs in points and rebounds as his team fell Monday. Last year, he battled injuries with the Thunder before losing to the Warriors in the Western Conference Finals.

Durant said the Rihanna dustup - Durant appeared to stare her down after he hit a late three-pointer in Game 1 - was a personal highlight during the Finals.

Having added Durant last off-season to the talents of Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green among others, it was perhaps hardly surprising they should sweep all before them. "They're assembled as good as you can assemble, and I played against some really, really good teams that was assembled perfectly, and they're right up there". Kyrie Irving, scored a quiet 26 points as he was held to 9 from 22 shooting by the impressive Warriors defense.
