United will reportedly pay around £30.75 million (€35m) for Sweden worldwide Lindelof, 22, and his former club Vasteras, who play in Sweden's third tier, could now receive a payment in the region of €5m after resolving a dispute with Benfica.

Jose Mourinho had identified Keane as a potential signing this summer but United announced an agreement with Benfica for Lindelof earlier this week.

We've got young Keane has done exceptionally well at Burnley, we're looking to bring him back at Manchester United for £28m, all of a sudden Lindelof is 30 [million].

It's tempting to think that in buying Lindelof to play with Bailly, Mourinho is attempting to create a new version of what was perhaps United's finest center back partnership of the modern era in Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic.

Lindelof is a superb reader of the game, strong in the tackle and skilled in passing the ball when he wins possession.

Wilkins believes Lindelof has "done absolutely nothing" and says Keane would have been a better addition to United's back four than the 22-year-old Swede.

Lindelof has been with Benfica since 2012, and made 47 appearances for the Portuguese league and cup champions last season.

Reports in Portugal claim that United are favourites to sign the 23-year-old who enjoyed a successful season with the Ligue 1 outfit having helped Monaco to their first league title since the 1999/00 season.

All the latest Manchester United transfer news and rumours from across the British and European press on Monday, June 12.

"It goes without saying the Premier League and England is a completely different culture and he will have to handle that".

In fact, some former and current Manchester United players have spoken about Lindelof already.

The Sweden worldwide comes into a side that are set to release compatriot Zlatan Ibrahimovic this summer, although the veteran striker will continue his rehabilitation from serious knee ligament damage with them.
