Morocco king hails Kuwait mediation efforts amid crisis

"I personally lived through the first building blocks of this council almost four decades ago, so it is not easy for someone like me as a leader to stand silent without doing everything I can to bring brothers back together", he added.

The assertion came in a verbal message conveyed by Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita to Sheikh Sabah, who received Bourita in Kuwait City on Tuesday.

Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber Al Sabah pledged to deploy all efforts to resolve the ongoing crisis in the Gulf.

Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu will visit Qatar on Wednesday amid regional tensions between Gulf states, the ministry said in a statement.

Victimising Qatar through smear campaigns serves no goal."The measures against Qatar, a small oil and gas exporter with a population of 2.7 million people, have disrupted imports of food and other materials and caused some foreign banks to scale back business.Qatar, which imported 80 percent of its food from bigger Gulf Arab neighbours before the diplomatic shutdown, has been talking to Iran and Turkey to secure food and water. The world's second largest helium producer, Qatar has also shut its two helium production plants because of the economic boycott, industry sources told Reuters on Tuesday.Turkey has maintained good relations with Qatar as well as several of its Gulf Arab neighbours".

On Sunday, Morocco declared its neutral position on the Gulf crisis, stressing its strong ties with all Gulf States, and revealed that King Mohammed VI is "ready to offer its good offices with a view to promote a frank and comprehensive dialogue on the basis of no-interference in internal affairs and the fight against religious extremism".

Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Yemen abruptly cut diplomatic relations with Qatar on June 5, accusing Doha of supporting terrorism.

Saudi Arabia has closed Qatar's sole land border and joined other countries in cutting off sea traffic, leading panicked residents to stockpile food.

Qatar, for its part, strenuously denies accusations that it is a supporter of terrorism, calling recent moves to diplomatically isolate it as "unjustified".
