'N. Korean drone took pictures of anti-missile system'

South Korean President Moon Jae-in said on Monday ties with Japan are being blocked by historical issues that will take time to resolve and he asked for Japan's understanding and cooperation on the issue.

North Korea have qualified just twice for the World Cup - once in 1966 and most recently in 2010, when they travelled to South Africa to take part.

Last week, North Korea denied entry to the Korean Sharing Movement, a private relief organization that provides insecticides, diagnostic kits and nets to prevent malaria.

The drone was found in a South Korean border town last Friday and South Korean investigators have discovered hundreds of photos in its Sony-made camera, a Defense Ministry official said, requesting anonymity because of department rules.

The North Korea official news agency on Saturday indicated Pyongyang is close to testing an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) that could potentially reach the US mainland.

The ministry says they include 10 photos of U.S. missile launchers and a radar system installed in the southeastern town of Seongju earlier this year. It also employed a twin-engine, not a single-engine used by the previous model found on Baeknyeong Island near the border, the military added.

The two nations now sit either side of the world's most heavily-fortified border since the 1950-53 Korean War ended with an armistice, not a peace treaty - meaning that technically the two countries are still at war.

The drone is now suspected to belong to North Korea.

Seoul says a suspected North Korean drone found near the Korean border last week was found to have taken photos of a U.S. missile defense shield in the South.

North Korea is not the only country strongly opposed to the deployment of a USA anti-missile system in South Korea. The liberal South Korean president campaigned on de-escalating tensions with Pyongyang by increasing commerce and allowing citizens in both countries to communicate with one another.

The cyber firm Symantec Corp said last month it was "highly likely" that a hacking group affiliated with North Korea called Lazarus Group was behind the WannaCry cyber attack that infected more than 300,000 computers worldwide, disrupting operations at hospitals, banks and schools.

This undated picture released from North Korea's official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) on May 28, 2017 shows North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un (C-in white shirt) watching the test of a new anti-aircraft guided weapon system organized by the Academy of National Defence Science at an undisclosed location.

China strongly objects to the THAAD system saying its powerful radar can probe deep into its territory, undermining its security and upsetting a regional balance.
