A suspected North Korean drone had taken photographs of an advanced us anti-missile battery in South Korea before it crashed, while apparently on its way back home, the South Korean military said on Tuesday.

The South Korean Defense Ministry on Tuesday released this photo, taken Friday, of a suspected North Korean drone.

About 10 of them were aerial shots of the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system - more than 100 miles away from the border - which is created to shoot North Korea's ballistic missiles down before they can do damage, the official said.

"The leaders will also coordinate on North Korea-related issues, including countering the growing North Korean nuclear and missile threats", he said.

North Korea's military strength U.S. running out of patience?

President Moon Jae-in spoke Tuesday in opening remarks during his first official visit to Yongsan Garrison for a meeting with Gen. Vincent Brooks, commander of U.S. Forces Korea.

South Korea and the United States say the system is aimed exclusively at defending against North Korean missiles.

Concern about drones has mounted amid recent claims by a high-level North Korean defector, who said last month that Pyongyang is capable of flying the devices at low altitudes to avoid radar detection and thwart a South Korean military system that uses electronic jamming to prevent drone incursions.

In April, the South Korean government reportedly submitted to a court its position that the comfort women agreement reached by Seoul and Tokyo on December 28, 2015, had no impact on the right of the former comfort women to claim damages.

North Korea did not participate in the 1988 Seoul Olympics but South Korean officials hope they will send a team to next year's Winter Games in Pyeongchang.

North Korea though has less affiliations with football.

In one of its latest vitriolic backlashes, the state-run newspaper Rodong Sinmun ran a statement from the so-called Pan-Korean Emergency Measure Committee for Opposing Nuclear War Drills Against the DPRK Monday, saying the antimissile system evades "rebukes of neighboring counties and curry favor with the USA administration to prolong their remaining days".

The reclusive country warned the US about its recent military drills with South Korea as well as its missile defense system, THAAD, installed in South Korea in April. The drone's images mostly consisted of forests and trees, but the aircraft appears to have made its way at least 177 miles into South Korea without detection.

North Korea has long boasted of its drone fleet, showcasing reconnaissance and attack drones modeled after similar US aircraft during parades in 2012 and 2013.

"(South Korea) should go into action to remove the danger of armed conflicts in land, sea and sky, including the areas of the Military Demarcation Line, and defuse the military tensions", the Committee for Peaceful Reunification said in English.

North Korea also acted in a provocative manner toward the administrations of Kim Dae-jung and Roh Moo-hyun, two former South Korean presidents who proposed North-South dialogue.
