Red Sox announcer Remy says Tanaka shouldn't get translator

On Tuesday another series in the long history of the Boston Red Sox vs the New York Yankees kicked off.

After Yankees pitching coach Larry Rothschild spoke with Tanaka in the fourth inning of Tuesday's game, Remy said to play-by-play man Dave O'Brien, "I forgot with Tanaka they take out a translator". Three years later, he joined NESN as a Red Sox broadcaster.

Remy, a popular figure among Red Sox fans, began working the team's broadcasts in 1988.

Sabathia had a 5-0 lead through five innings on a three-run homer by Chris Carter, a solo homer by Didi Gregorius and a RBI single by Gary Sanchez.

Sabathia (7-2) has won his last five starts, which have all followed games the Yankees lost with Tanaka on the mound.

The Sox could have moved into a tie for first place in the AL East.

Jonathan Holder followed Sabathia with a flawless ninth.

Boston boasts a handful of solid hitters.

However, Price has struggled against the Yankees, getting tagged for all six runs in a 6-4 loss at Yankee Stadium on September 27, and has been saddled with the losing decision in three of his past four starts against NY. A fan in right field got his hands on the ball in home run territory before it went into Betts' glove, making it a home run. However, despite Joe Girardi's protest, the umpires declined to look at the replays. Tanaka had just given up back-to-back home runs to first baseman Mitch Moreland and DH Hanley Ramirez.

"That was weird and scary", said Sabathia, who was able to get the repaired brace back after the inning.

Sabathia made a bare-hand grab of Jackie Bradley Jr.'s fifth-inning comebacker after Rutledge's triple, a ball that came off the bat at 98 miles per hour.

"That was really weird, it was scary, " Sabathia said. Since giving up five runs in six innings in a loss to Cincinnati on May 9, Sabathia has played the role of an ace, rolling off five straight wins thanks to regaining command of his cutter to control the inside part of the plate. Betts whiffed 0-for-4 on Wednesday; Bogaerts went 1-for-4. "It's really hard to ignore what Aaron Hicks has done", Girardi said.

Red Sox: LHP Brian Johnson is to be recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket and start Friday against Detroit, his first big league appearance since a five-hit shutout against Seattle on May 27. Johnson slipped and injured his left hamstring while pitching for the PawSox on Saturday but threw a successful bullpen Tuesday and passed agility tests Wednesday. Boston LHP Eduardo Rodriguez (right knee subluxation) made throws from 120 feet without any physical issues.

"It comes down to consistent location with his sinker", Boston manager John Farrell said. Yep, that math adds up - one batter reached on a wild pitch. CF Jacoby Ellsbury is still experiencing headaches from a concussion sustained May 24 when he crashed into the wall catching a drive by Kansas City's Alcides Escobar.

David Price aims to improve to 2-0 in just his third start of the season Thursday. The Yankees didn't need production from either one of them this time around, as the bottom of the order provided more than enough run support.

Brewers 6, Giants 3: Jimmy Nelson pitched six solid innings for Milwaukee, and Jesus Aguilar drove in the go-ahead run with a two-out double in the fifth.
