Scotland will be independent by 2025, says Sturgeon

Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon ruled out a formal coalition between her Scottish National Party with Labour if Jeremy Corbyn were to form a minority Labour government, but said Friday she would support Labour on an "issue by issue" basis.

NICOLA Sturgeon's comments came as it was claimed that her deputy is on course to lose his Commons seat next week.

She described Theresa May as "the queen of u-turns" and said "a strong block of SNP MPs will demand that she u-turn on her austerity agenda and start investing in our public services, our businesses and our people".

She said: "We fought an election to the Scottish Parliament past year". We did that. We were then told that the United Kingdom is a family of nations and Scotland's voice would be heard, that the prime minister wouldn't trigger Article 50 until there had been a United Kingdom position.

"I would say that my approval ratings compare pretty favourably to any other leader in Scotland and the UK."
She added: "The SNP is going into this election - and I take nothing for granted about the poll on Thursday - but we're going into this election significantly ahead in the polls of our nearest rivals".

'That is a democratically unsustainable position'.

'I've not really got into Facebook as much which everyone keeps telling me is a mistake because you get to far more people.

A spokesman for Scottish Labour said: "Support for the SNP is on the slide thanks to the threat of a second independence referendum".

Miss Sturgeon said her timetable for holding a second vote on Scottish independence is "as it's always been" - between autumn 2018 and spring 2019.

She told BBC's Newsbeat: 'I have to try and ration myself and pull myself off of Twitter.

Calum Kerr told us: "One of the things me and my colleague Paul Wheelhouse has been able to do is really put the Borders on the map in Scottish politics and U.K. Politics. Now, I'm not in charge of that timetable and that process".

Ms Sturgeon also faced another barracking over the SNP's record in government, with one audience member challenging her to make good her pledge to be judged on education by resigning.

Meanwhile former chancellor and Better Together chief Alistair Darling will be speaking to voters in East Renfrewshire, the constituency Labour's Jim Murphy held between 1997 and 2015.

The SNP leader said another five years of Tory government was "not palatable" and said another SNP success like two years ago could be the deciding factor.

However, during a hard half hour, she was repeatedly lambasted over her refusal to drop her plans for another referendum and warned she was losing the support of even some SNP supporters.

Last week's Ipsos/Mori survey saw net satisfaction with how Ms Sturgeon is doing her job dip into negative territory for the first time, with 50 per cent of respondents saying they were dissatisfied compared to 46 per cent who were satisfied.
