Student released by North Korea arrives in Ohio

Former NBA basketball player Dennis Rodman arrives at Beijing Capital International Airport in Beijing, Tuesday, June 13, 2017.

This marks Rodman's fifth visit to the North. Rodman is known to have close ties with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, an avid basketball fan.

The last time Rodman visited North Korea, he delighted the country's young ruler with a rendition of "Happy Birthday", suffered an angry meltdown on CNN while defending his trip, and spent time at a rehab facility.

Two Ohio senators are denouncing North Korea after a resident of their state was said to be in a coma after being released from a prison in that country.

Rodman watched a women's basketball team practice at a gym Wednesday and visited the birthplace of North Korean founder Kim Il Sung, the grandfather of the current leader. The recluse regime has been put under economic sanctions due to the nation's missile tests.

An American student who had been detained in North Korea for nearly a year-and-a-half has been released.

REX TILLERSON, U.S. Secretary of State: At the president's direction, the Department of State has secured the release of Otto Warmbier from North Korea.

An airplane carrying Otto Warmbier, who is from OH, landed in Cincinnati late Tuesday night.

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said the United States is discussing their respective cases with the North Korean regime. He is scheduled to meet North Korea's sports minister before he leaves the country on Saturday.

AP reporters Josh Lederman and Ken Thomas in Washington, Eric Talmadge in Pyongyang, North Korea, Daniel Sewell in Cincinnati and video journalist Sara Gillesby in NY contributed to this report.

Netflix Original 'Black Mirror' to be adapted into book series
The series' third season aired on Netflix in October, and received a rapturous reception from the critics and the viewers. The first of three volumes is due to be published on February 20, 2018.

It was a relatively low-ley arrival after his four past trips since 2013 generated a lot of publicity - most of it unfavorable - and did little in terms of diplomacy.

The U.S. government accuses North Korea of using such detainees as political pawns. "I understand the severity of my crime", he said.

Rodman said the issue of several Americans detained by North Korea is "not my objective right now", in remarks made in Beijing before the release of Warmbier was publicly disclosed.

Warmbier was found guilty and sentenced in March 2016 to 15 years hard labor.

"We want the world to know how we and our son have been brutalized and terrorized by the pariah regime" in North Korea, Warmbier's parents said. North Korea repatriated a sick US citizen it had held captive for 17 months, and Dennis Rodman arrived with fanfare in Pyongyang.

The president of an American university where a student attended before being imprisoned by North Korea says the school is "deeply concerned and saddened" to learn that he is in a coma.

"We strongly suggest that Americans do not go to North Korea", Nauert said. North Korea told a U.S. official that Warmbier contracted botulism and slipped into the coma after taking a sleeping pill, a senior State Department official told CNN.

"In no uncertain terms North Korea must explain the causes of his coma", Bill Richardson, a veteran former diplomat and politician who has played a role in past negotiations with North Korea, said in a statement after speaking to Warmbier's parents.

Mr. Rodman also has had a relationship with Donald Trump developed while appearing twice, in 2009 and 2013, on the latter's Celebrity Apprentice television show.
