US Secret Service says it doesn't have any Trump tapes

Trump Can Gut Obama-Era Labor Regs Because They Were Never Meant to Last

At a Rose Garden press conference with Romanian President Klaus Iohannis this afternoon, Trump was asked why he felt vindicated by Comey's testimony and if White House tapes exist.

"It's my judgment that I was sacked because of the Russian Federation investigation", Comey said toward the end of more than two hours of testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee.

Claiming "total and complete vindication", Trump broke his Twitter silence Friday morning to weigh in on fired FBI Director James Comey's closely watched testimony.

Kasowitz disputed those points and attacked Comey for leaking "privileged communications" to the media.

Legal experts have questioned Kasowitz's contention that Trump's private encounters with Comey should be considered privileged communications.

Comey, fired by Trump last month, said in congressional testimony last week that he gave a memo describing his conversations with Trump to a close friend and told him to share its contents with a reporter.

Comey said he did so after Trump suggested in a tweet that their conversations may have been recorded.

"Yeah, I can't answer that question here", Oliver said, pretending to be Comey. "That's another thing he said", Karl asked. "It's also true I think from based on what I see as a third party and out of government that there's no basis to say there's no obstruction".

Since his ominous tweet, Trump has repeatedly refused to confirm or deny whether those tapes exist. He also told reporters that he will talk about the tapes he allegedly has of him and Comey "sometime in the very near future". House Speaker Paul Ryan has come to Trump's defense. "They sent a separate request to Trump's White House counsel, Don McGahn, for any record the White House had of their meetings". He painted Trump as a chief executive dismissive of the FBI's independence and made clear that he interpreted Trump's request to end an investigation into the former national security adviser as an order coming from the president. If he did make them and refuses to hand them over, that could be interpreted as obstruction of justice - an impeachable offense. He dismissed the idea Republicans would be considering impeachment if Trump were a Democrat facing the same allegations. "No".

"I didn't say that", Trump insisted Friday, before heading to his New Jersey golf club in Bedminster where he will spend the weekend. "I know him the best, I have observed him the longest, I know he has his own band of integrity", Feinstein said.

"And did he ask you to pledge -" Karl began before being cut off.

Attorney General Jeff Session, a former Trump campaign adviser who had to recuse himself from the federal probe because of his own meetings with the Russian ambassador to the US before and after the election, is scheduled to testify on Tuesday before the Senate Intelligence Committee.

In late March, Comey testified, Trump again called him at the Federal Bureau of Investigation to say the Russian Federation probe was "a cloud" hanging over his ability to lead the country and asking "what we could do to "lift the cloud".
