Warriors parade set for Thursday in Oakland

That's exactly what Durant did in these NBA Finals, earning himself the MVP award.

So bear with me, because while it sounds like I'm saying "the Warriors played differently after they got Kevin Durant" what I'm really trying to say is this: Without Kevin Durant last year, and with him this year, the Dubs played like two different greatest teams of all time. The 2017 NBA Finals MVP was brilliant in the series, averaging 35.2 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 5.4 assists.

Not to mention he got a quick jab at his critics with a well-timed Nike commercial shorty after the confetti fell in Oracle Arena.

I recognize the transitive property of the National Basketball Association doesn't hold (else the #TNTBulls would be popping champagne last night), but this Bulls team was so much worse than the Celtics (ok, a bit more like even with contract-Rondo), who were so much worse than the Cavaliers, who were so much worse than the Warriors, I mean: we know whatever the Bulls plans are this season they're ultimately pointless due to the bind that their continued incompetence has placed them, but it looks even more daunting when trying to step back and look at the big picture.

It validated the notion of Warriors general manager Bob Myers, who risked what he had built counting on Durant to be the final piece in building a juggernaut.

After averaging a triple-double over the five games, James knew there was little more he or his teammates could have done to beat a Golden State Warriors team that proved too talented this year with the addition of Finals MVP Durant.

"When the final numbers come in, we'll probably see that this was the most socially engaged NBA Finals ever", he said.

The women's under-16 team just finished second at the FIBA Americas qualifier in Argentina, losing to the United States in the gold medal game but qualifying for next year's under-17 world championships nonetheless.

What made them great: Abdul-Jabbar and Robertson might be two of the top five players in National Basketball Association history, and they were on the same sensational team that season.

Because of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, shoe companies pay the best players more than their teams are even allowed to spend. When people tell me I'm great, I remind myself that I can always be better. And it feels unbelievable to win a championship with these guys. So I just tried to stay with those principles and keep grinding.

The Warriors, who were playing a Game 5 for the first time in the postseason, shot 51.1 percent from the field and 36.8 percent on 3-pointers.

With a much-improved bench led by Iguodala, JaVale McGee, Shaun Livingston and West, that "Strength In Numbers" slogan that has become such a staple the past two seasons shined all season long, from Durant's 19-game absence late in the regular season with a left knee injury to assistant coach Mike Brown stepping in for 11 postseason games to lead the way while Steve Kerr was ailing. The Cavaliers also have no choice but to consider busting up their "Big 3" of James, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love due to their weak portfolio of complementary trade assets and the fact that they must send out multiple future first-round picks in previous trade obligations.

"Getting that first championship for me was like having my first son", he added. "So for me personally, I have no reason to put my head down".
