Warriors say no decision has been made on White House visit

"The Warriors will be the first team to boycott a visit to the White House following a championship. We will make those decisions when and if necessary".

The tradition of sports teams visiting the White House dates back to the 1800s.

Rumours were circulating on twitter just hours after the Warriors claimed their second National Basketball Association title in three seasons that the National Basketball Association champions will skip a trip the White House. But these days it seems more athletes are doing so in order to make a political statement. While some, like superstar quarterback Tom Brady, had nonpolitical reasons for doing so, many players stated in one way or another that they were staying away due to their disapproval of the current administration. Basic reason for me is I don't feel accepted in the White House.

Warriors coach Steve Kerr expressed his disappointment with the election results last November saying after the election that President Donald Trump regularly used "racist, misogynist, insulting words" during his campaign.

Veteran forward David West told The Undefeated he "probably" wouldn't go.

The decision would be in direct contrast with the team's 2015 win, after which they proudly posed alongside then-President Obama.

If this story, which was also reported by AOL.com, turns out to be true, it will be interesting to see the response from Trump supporters and the White House itself. They're going to have to get me down from this cloud. But, so far, there doesn't seem to be any real news on that front.
